Everything started in the 90s, when I was around 20. I created a lot of simple melodies on our old family piano. I was afraid I would forget them, because I could not write them down properly as sheet music. I also wanted to develop them into cinematic pieces - that was my main vision for those themes.
So I found a job and saved up for my first (and only) keyboard: an Ensoniq ZR-76.
This keyboard opened up a vast space of creative possibilities for me and I created many songs that could already be called real music. It was an amazing tool and a piece of technology that gave me the opportunity to expand my basic musical ideas into the full compositions I had always dreamed of.
At home, I recorded and burned two CDs on my brand-new PC under the artist name Andre. That was a time with no mobile phones, no internet whatsoever and no streaming at all.
More than 25 years later, I realised that new tools and technologies were available that could help me arrange and develop those themes even further and turn them into much better music. So I started experimenting with them. After several months, I began to see this as a way to bring those melodies back to life. I also knew that, in this new world, I would be able to deliver my music to listeners. Andre The Sun was born.
I take one of my old songs and turn it into the foundation for an entire series. For example, the current Rein series grew out of “Sherlock Holmes_Source of Rein (Archive Demo).wav”.
On average, I create more than 100 snippets, parts, versions, variations, layers, sounds, instrument lines and other elements for a single final composition. Then I literally compose by putting them together, layering, stitching and mixing them until the piece feels right to me and matches what I imagined. And until it becomes something listeners can truly enjoy.
At this stage, I focus on polishing, adjusting frequencies, refining the balance and mastering the track so it sounds clear, powerful, and ready for listeners.
...is designing the cover art and the visual identity for the track.
